Not that you’d notice or anything

“Most of my readers,” says Lisa, “probably don’t even know that Salma [Hayek] has great legs,” and generously includes a photo of same, along with other points of interest, for the benefit of those readers yet to discover this particular fact.

I, of course, did know that, though this is less due to Superior Knowledge on my part, of which I have little or none, than to my ongoing tendency to look for that which is overlooked. For instance, I said back in 2006:

One of the wondrous things about Dolly Parton, I’ve always felt, is that she has a splendid pair of legs which are almost always on display, yet which no one has ever seen: this is magical misdirection worthy of Penn and Teller.

Well, with this shot you can’t help but see:

Dolly Parton with guitar

I have yet to figure out, however, how she picks guitar with those Dragon Lady nails.

(Why, yes, this is bait for Robert Stacy McCain’s Rule 5 Sunday, though McCain’s Hayekian stance is more Friedrich than Salma. I think.)

Perhaps it’s because her legs are shaded so well?

Yep, I went there, and yes, I am that shallow….

Well, in her autobiography, she stated that she wore a size-five shoe, which is on the small side, but “things don’t grow in the shade.”

    So I don’t think it’s a depth issue, exactly.

Well, Chaz, I think we’ve both performed a valuable public service this week, bringing to light truths that are obviously being ignored or suppressed by the Mainstream Media.

And on that shade theory: I wear a 5.5 to 6 shoe and I have barely a fraction of Dolly’s “overhang”. So that one is debunked.

I don’t think she meant to imply that everyone whose Weejuns were wee had balconies you could do Shakespeare from; I used to date someone who wore a size four. (Then again, she was four foot nine.)

The remarkable part of this comment, of course, is “I used to date someone.”
