McGehee, I hope you aren't mistaking catamount for catamite. Better call the former by its other archaic name: painter.

I read somewhere that the barking of a dog will almost always tree a catamount (my preferred name for the cat has been redefined of late and I want to avoid misunderstanding). Since the incessant yapping of LFDs is often enough to send me up a tree, I've little reason to doubt the claim.

(And the reason for my concern over misunderstanding has thus been revealed. Heh.)

Yippy little dogs...

They're more useful than you think. Proving the value of Taco Bell, three chihuahuas corner a mountain lion....

Our dynamic terrier duo has not yet tangled with our resident mountain lion (Joaquin). But the youngest terrier was banned from the dogwalkers because he was "beating up some other dogs." The dogs this 18 pound wonder was hassling? A lab, a Rottweiler and a pitbull mix.

Well, they're not bred for ferocity. If there's a trio of terriers about that same size going up against Priscilla Puma, I'm betting on the terriers every time.

49 percent is about right - it is amazing the little suckers live as long as they do. Their overinflated opinion of their fierceness and abilities overrides their survival instincts. Those LFDs were lucky that mountain lion didn't weary of them sooner.

Gotta give 'em props, though.
