Huh. This made me google myself and one result was a twitter from somebody who said she was attending my funeral in New York. I suppose I should be leery about visiting New York or people will think I’ve come back from the dead.

I admit to owning one album by Bolton: his first, in 1975, issued under his birth name of Michael Bolotin.

And I would add I’m glad I have a somewhat-unusual name combination. There are other people by my name out there but luckily none of them are famous. (Though one was a child who was murdered about 15 years ago. It’s unsettling to read a news account about how someone having the same name as you was brutally killed. I mean, more unsettling than reading about a child’s murder is already)

Oddly, this makes me think of:

“Michael Bolton: Yeah, well, at least your name isn’t Michael Bolton.

Samir: You know, there’s nothing wrong with that name.

Michael Bolton: There *was* nothing wrong with it… until I was about twelve years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.

Samir: Hmm… well, why don’t you just go by Mike instead of Michael?

Michael Bolton: No way! Why should I change? He’s the one who sucks. ”

My argument would be that the Aussie lady probably had the name first, therefore she gets to keep it.
