And now we’re Hardened

Once again, told ya so: the Thunder used the #3 pick for Arizona State shooting guard James Harden.

Number 25, meanwhile, seemed to strike everyone as bizarre: point guard Rodrigue Beaubois, born in Guadeloupe, the French archipelago in the eastern Caribbean, who’s been playing for Cholet Basket in western France. Most of your draft whizzes projected him to go at the very bottom of the first round, if not the second, and while I suppose it’s a good thing Minnesota didn’t suck up all the point guards — after some wheeling and dealing, the T-Wolves wound up with four first-round picks and spent the first three on Rubio and two other PGs — I figure we’ve got a logjam at the one already. But ESPN’s Chad Ford is saying that Beaubois will be dealt to Dallas for center B. J. Mullens and a future pick. Which, if true, is damned weird, since the Mavs picked Mullens at, um, #24. And in the time it took me to write this, someone put up a Wikipedia page on Beaubois.

The Thunder have no second-round pick this year, so that’s it. Watch for future Prestidigitations: you never know what GM Sam Presti might have up his sleeve.

Update: Trade confirmed.
