I wouldn’t have gotten it if I hadn’t been a self-taught mythology junkie when I was quite young. None of my grade school teachers taught any mythology–except for the Latin teacher who had once or twice muttered something random about Jove and Juno.

I discovered the whole Incarnations of Immortality series when I was twelve. Even then, I thought that was some strange stuff.

Jeffro, I think it was a fantasy series (Incarnations of Immortality) starting with “On A Pale Horse” by Piers Anthony…..

High school here as well. (I *think*. Might even have been earlier. They made us do a lot of mythology in junior high for some reason. Maybe they figured novels were too controversial.)

I have to say though that that’s one of the cleverer jokes that’s come out of this whole sad thing.
