For now, I take her at her word that she's done with politics.

In the meantime, the important thing is to kill Waxman/Markey.

Gah. Who the @#$!! is advising her? Seeking and winning a second term were the two things most likely to improve her image outside Alaska. Now she's just going to look like a flake -- which, sadly, is already how too many people view her.

I'd write her off, but I wrote off her chances of winning the governorship in 2006 after she got the nomination, and look what happened.

In fact, she's not going to finish this term. Given her long-standing tendency to go the distance, this can mean only one of one thing.

Current banner at cnn.com:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is expected to announce that she will not seek a second term, a GOP source close to Palin says.

Who would have thought there were any GOP sources close to Palin? Not this guy.

I confess I was a tad disappointed at the posiness of at least one of the pics. I hope that was the photog's idea, but if so it would have been nice if the Governor had demurred. Dignity is sexy too.

Having looked at the other pictures in the offering, some of them very carefully, I am reasonably certain that this is purely photo-shoot garb.

Hmmm. This must be her attire for the photo shoot. Or she was only running a 5K. Because anyone who runs -- or even walks -- distance knows that over 5 miles, spandex and copious amounts of KY Jelly are the only way to avoid the dreaded "road burn". Doesn't matter how thin your thighs are, your skin will be torn off your appendages by any loose fabric.

I believe those mountains behind her in some of those pics are the Chugach. Very spectacular backdrop for Anchorage, and on most days that city's main claim to being within seeing distance of Alaska (as we who lived in the other 99% of Alaska liked to say).
