The Turks’ business
Today’s odd juxtaposition of tunes, courtesy of the iTunes shuffle:
- They Might Be Giants, “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)”
- Franz Ferdinand, “Lucid Dreams,” which contains the line “But I’m flyin’ to Istanbul / Oh, so why don’t you meet me there?”

How about Fujiya and Miyagi’s “Collarbone” and George Thorogood”s “Bad to the Bone”? Got those one day but I think there might have been another song in between, so maybe it doesn’t count as a strange juxtaposition.
I’d forgotten They Might Be Giants, haven’t heard them for years.

Not a bad fit, unless it’s your own bones George is bad to. :)

I have to admit that I have been cursing the day I read this post, since I have “Constantinople” stuck in my head (alternating, inexplicably, with “Puttin’ on the Ritz. The Fred Astaire version, not the Rufus Wainwright verson.) Damn earworms! (That always reminds me of “The Wrath of Khan”)

It could be worse. You could have gotten stuck in the Eighties dance version by Taco Ockerse.

You know, I had totally forgotten about the Taco version, and I’m pretty sure I liked it better that way…(very 80′s video, though, thanks (I think) for the link)
