I remember when MTV VJ JJ Jackson would promo her upcoming clips by calling her “The burner, Tina Turner” and would get a kind of twinkle in his eye, probably because she was not only hot, she was about the only person played on MTV in his age range (She was born two years before he was).

Tina is amazing. I saw her as part of that “farewell tour”. She had three sets of back up singers/dancers — all in their twenties. She rotated in a new crew every half hour. She danced the entire time without an intermission. In the highest heels. I imagined those youngsters backstage saying, “Gotta quit after this tour. Lady’s gonna kill me.”
