Well, mine are still pretty "exclusive" - the one I use for my banking is for educators, and the other one, where I have a dormant savings account "for emergencies" was the one where my dad has his accounts (educators and children of educators can open accounts there).

I also admit somewhat of relief to learn that my credit union didn't dabble in mortgages. They make car loans - which could turn out to be bad enough - but at least they weathered the foreclosure mess OK.

Credit unions have generally been less likely to stick it to people, although I have to wonder how well this pattern holds up now that just about anyone can get into one. (Used to be, you had to be a member of such-and-such a group before you could open any sort of account.)

I dunno, I have two cards issued through the two credit unions at which I have accounts and haven't noticed any turning of the screws of late. (Of course, I tend to ignore what the interest levels are, see below:)

Of course, that could change. As I am one of those so-called "deadbeats" who pays off the card every month and doesn't rack up interest charges, I could be in line to see my accounts cancelled in this brave new world.

Debit card only here - if I don't have the cash, I don't buy it. Period. I've been "serviced" as a customer too many times.
