When I first started getting complete sentences, I assumed it was students doing homework. (Because, you know, textbooks suck.)

Nowadays I figure either it's people looking for a quote but who don't know who said it, or people who just don't know how to use the system efficiently.

As to the "why textbooks suck", I suspect that most of my classmates could detail *how* they suck, but not why. None of them have ever read anything from Thomas Sowell ("Inside American Education:) or Diane Ravitch ("The Language Police").

As to many of your search strings, why do you have so many complete sentences? Almost all of the hits on my blog (when I was still blogging) were for keywords strung together, with a few chilling exceptions.

NSA does not presume friendship, or even prior acquaintance.
Still works for the other meaning too.

FWB and NSA intersect, but do not coincide; NSA does not presume friendship, or even prior acquaintance.

(Or so I've been told. My personal experience with this sort of thing is right up there with my personal experience of the space shuttle.)

I'm guessing "nsa" is "no strings attached," which I thought was called (but maybe just used to be called) "friends with benefits"

though McGehee's explanation gives a lot more interesting mental pictures. Or maybe not.

at least it's not TSA sex. Now that would be scary.

As a rule, I don't try to trace these unless they resonate strangely. (I mean, more strangely.)
