Porsche is suing Crocs, the manufacturer of those (in)famous plastic shoes, for naming a sandal “Cayman.”

I await the inevitable suit against Rudy Giuliani, whose every sentence, according to Joe Biden, consists of “a noun, a verb, and 911.”

Addendum: It occurs to me that if we’re going to use Barbara Carrera’s name in vain, we may as well go all-out:

Barbara Carrera

The question of whether she in any way resembles a Porsche, even this one, is left as an exercise for the student.

My, those legs do stretch forever, don’t they.

I just don’t get the Barbara Carrera/Porsche/Croc link.

She does have very long legs, though. And no Crocs.

“Carrera” is a trim level for Porsche’s 911; I figure, if they can sue Crocs over “Cayman,” which is a different model of Porsche, they can sue somebody over “Carrera,” except that she was there first.

Besides, I couldn’t think of any Boxster jokes.

(embarassed) I confess to being indifferent to cars as long as they function: I’m the kind of gal who, when asked what kind of car the neighbors got, replies “blue.”

Besides, there are undoubtedly times in the Great White North when you wouldn’t want to be driving one of these “ass-engined Nazi slot cars,” as P. J. O’Rourke once dubbed them, unless you’ve got some serious winter tires. (I heard somewhere that such were mandatory in at least one province.)

People with Porsches (not us) in my town tend to park them and drive “winter beaters” in the winter, due to the high cost of body work on luxury cars, although you do see a few of them on the road. Winter tires are mandatory only in Quebec, as far as I know, but we got them since all seaons tires aren’t, in this climate.
