NOAA reported the following amounts of snow cover:

Friday - 14 inches.
Saturday - 10 inches.
Today - the numbers won't be out until midnight. I'm guessing 5 inches.

Well, I've cleared the front walk and about 24 feet (out of 30) of the driveway. Temperatures unexpectedly climbed above freezing today, which helped; there will be some refreeze tonight, no doubt, but the worst is over.

Don't panic! It will melt -- probably sooner than you think. Funny because we haven't had much snow at all in Ohio!!!!! It's one of Mother Nature's practical jokes. My snow shovel is collecting dust!

Sis said she saw on the news that OK doesn't have laws against driving on a recommended closed road, as opposed to the more draconian measures to the north.

My sister lives near 122nd and I35 - I managed to get here before 7pm last night. I came in from Kingfisher on 33 - but I kept hearing about all the metro area interstates being closed. I figured I35 from Guthrie to 122nd was right out. So, I came down 74 to the Kilpatrick (the 'pikes were open, go figure), ran over to I35 and made it in.

The whole experience was - interesting. The older I get, the less tolerance I have for such inconveniences. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have gotten a room in Kingfisher!

And "Roads Closed" in Oklahoma means something different than Colorado, Wyoming or any other "northern" state (even NW KS) - y'all just have a trooper on the shoulder with his lights on, watching the "forbidden" traffic drive by. Anywhere else, the gates are shut and padlocked.

This is not an unusual amount of snow for an Oklahoma winter.

What's different is that instead of falling over a period of twelve weeks, it fell over a period of twelve hours.

You can sing "Mon Pays" (the Gilles Vigneault version - "mon pays, c'est ne pas un pays, c'est l'hiver") instead of "l'amour c'est comme l'ete...") My sympathies for your snow, I know it is not fun for people not accustomed to it.

Ici, c'est hiver.
