8 November 2006Couch changeAnd a lot of change it is, too: Oklahoma City Manager Jim Couch is getting a raise to $192,500 a year which, for a person overseeing an annual budget upwards of $750 million, doesn't strike me as an enormous sum of money. (In case you were wondering: each member of City Council gets $12,000 a year; the Mayor is paid $24,000.) Posted at 11:33 AM to City SceneI don't begrudge the man a raise but 10% is a HUGE raise for a civil servant ... he's done a good job but 10%? The city workers who toil for very limited wages (compared to other cities with budgets our size) could use 10% but I bet THAT won't happen. The city should take care of the little people first ... the big shots always get theirs. Posted by: Ron at 1:09 PM on 8 November 2006Well, it's a bigger raise than I got, anyway. Then again, I don't work for the city, and they're probably glad I don't. |
