Wouldn't it be cool if Bill Quick actually got a cut of the proceeds from this T-shirt?
I say "cool" because "absolutely frickin' unheard-of," while more precise, grates on the ear.

It's been well-documented (check Kottke - Brad Graham used it first) that the term 'blogosphere' predates Quick's use of it. He did not create the word. Quick did embrace it and help popularize it, however. He cleverly (but disingenuously) says he 'named' the blogosphere, using a link that implies he invented the term, and another supporting reference from Bill Safire. Quick loves the 'special place' he believes this affords him (and the sporadic Instalinks that come with that), but it just ain't so.
But... but Safire is God! Maureen says so!
Actually, I've seen this sort of thing before, when someone came up with "blogeosie," which Insty duly linked, and which I noted that I'd said about a year earlier. Fortunately, that particular neologism died quickly, although at the time I was at least slightly pissed.
