The Finch Formerly Known As Gold

Pre-inked for your convenience

The following thoughts hit me more or less simultaneously with the arrival of the Feist YellowBook on my porch:

  • There's a fair amount of lead time involved in compiling a phone directory;
  • Tattoo parlors in Oklahoma were only just legalized in November.

So I was curious to see what, if any, listings there might be in this January book. And there are plenty: two and two-thirds pages of display ads, and thirty-three individual listings.

There are also, I must mention, three tattoo-removal listings; one firm has listings under both.

They specialize in ED-RW (epidermis rewritable).

As long as I don't have to distinguish between ED-RW+ and ED-RW- I'm fine.

Investment-wise, it's the REMOVAL end of the tattoo business you want to be in. Tattooing is an impulse-buy business driven by fashion and peer pressure. They're optional, whereas their removal is, usually, not.

The same logic puts Tony Soprano in the waste-removal business. Tony doesn't want to get caught up in the often-destructive competition of creation. He doesn't know what you want to buy, and he doesn't care to know. He just knows that, sooner or later, you'll get rid of it.
