You'll have joy, you'll have fun

You won't want to stop at one: Faster Than The World is collecting your votes for Worst Song of the Seventies through early Sunday.

I am happy to note that no fewer than four items from my list of regular barf inducers made it to the ballot.

Your list is good, but in the end I had to go with "American Pie." Not on the face of it the worst song, but perhaps the most overplayed song in the world.

And certainly up there among the most overanalyzed.

Wildfire. Hate the song, hate whomever sang it, hate whomever wrote it, and hate the TV show named after it. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

A prime example of 'scuse-me-while-I-kiss-this-guy garbled lyrics, though: "We're gonna leave South Boston behind."

What he said, really, was "sodbustin'," but have you ever seen South Boston?

(Note to actual Southies: it's a joke, okay?)

Wildfire. Hate the song, hate whomever sang it

That would be Michael Martin Murphey, and judging from what he's done since he may be said to have repented and earned forgiveness.

And a TV show built around "Wildfire" the song? That settles it. I need to start faxing my own TV show ideas to TV producers, since obviously their judgment has at long crossed over into negative territory.
