22 March 2007Doing the financial shang-a-langThe Bay City Rollers are suing Sony BMG, proprietors of the dormant Arista label, for an unspecified amount of unpaid back royalties. According to the suit, the band has received a total of $254,000 in the last twenty-five years; the Rollers' last US chart single ("The Way I Feel Tonight," Arista 0272) was released at the end of 1977, but Rollers tracks have been repeatedly repackaged since then, and yes, there are Rollers fans still. Besides, they're Scottish, and if it's not Scottish, it's crap.
