The Finch Formerly Known As Gold

I hear one of the Twins was an only child

Oh, woe is San Diego:

It's the only team in major league baseball — the only team in any of North America's four major professional sports — with a Hispanic surname.

At a time when baseball celebrates itself as a model of ethnic diversity and internationalism — more than 30 percent of major leaguers are Hispanic, including many of its superstars — the Padres' 25-man roster includes only two Latino players.

You think that's a shame? Not one of the San Francisco Giants is over six-foot-five. Talk about unrepresentative.

How many on Cincinnati's roster are even liberal, let alone socialist or communist?

How many who play for Oakland had a 4.0 GPA?

How many at New York's NL team are really all that sophisticated?

How many in L.A. have even been audited, let alone convicted?

And in Cleveland and Atlanta, how many team members are enrolled members of a recognized tribe?

And let's not even bring up Chicago's AL team.

Well, "A's" was shortened from "Athletics," so I'll give Oakland a pass on that one.

Just watch out for those snakes in Arizona.

I'll bet those guys playing for St. Louis aren't even Catholic.

In the league realignment, the Cardinals, Padres, Angels form the Holier-Than-Thou division, the Blue Jays and Orioles go in the Birdcage, Tigers and Diamondbacks go in the Steelcage, and the Red Sox and White Sox go in the wash (but not together).
