Irises at Surlywood

Two shots from within my flower box. Above, the irises rise to meet the sun (though the stiff winds today haven't helped that much); below, one not-quite-perfect (but still pretty nice) rose, far darker than the pink ones I usually get. (The backyard rosebush produces flowers the color of ketchup, and I mean Heinz.)

I was thinking of posting a picture of my Iris on my thing over here but my phone isn't working.

Nice, crisp shots with good close-up detail. Our irises and azaleas were gorgeous 2 weeks ago. Then came the few nights of 25 degree temps. Now they're all brown, dead, gone... So sad...

These things started to bud in late March; an exceptional cold spell kept them well hidden for the next two weeks, and they're only now starting to poke their way out. (The lowest it got here was about 34, which isn't exactly freezing but still 15 degrees below normal.) I am wondering if this actually had some effect on rose coloration. (And my usual batch of yellow irises has yet to make an appearance.)

Lovely rose. Looks as if it might be a floribunda. (?)
