Something here doesn't quite register

Dear Mr. Duncan:
Thank you for your kind letter and invitation to participate in your "GOP Census." I must point out, however, that inasmuch as I am not a registered Republican, the "Dear Fellow Republican" salutation notwithstanding, it might be inappropriate for me to respond positively at this time.

Yeah. I used to get them all the time when I lived in Oklahoma, and merely gave them to my husband, who is a Republican.
However, he used to get telephone calls and letters from the Democrats all the time...and to make it worse, they were in Spanish not English (he's Filipino but has a Spanish name).
To make it worse, I was the registered Democrat, but rarely got any letters. (we use different last names)
Both parties need to update their lists, I think.
There are quite a few Oklahomans who consider themselves Democrats but when shown the two major party's respective platforms come down solidly within the Republican big tent. This goes far beyond mere Blue Dogs. The national Democrat party today resembles little of the proud standard barer of a few decades ago. Many Oklahoman Democrats are such because that is what their parents were, as are many Republican. However, unlike the Republicans, the Democrats--at the national level--resemble little of what attracted their parents.
So, perhaps...the letter wasn't so misaddressed? Being as informed as you are, this probably doesn’t apply to you, but possibly to many others who received the letter “in error.”
