Thou shalt not covet, etc.
What with Berry Tramel's just-slightly-hyperbolic prediction in yesterday's Oklahoman, and the introduction in that paper of a regular "Sonics update," you might think that the deal was done and the moving vans were already being loaded.
Me, I'm sticking with Henry Abbott's stance in TrueHoop:
Oklahoma City deserves praise for housing the Hornets in a time of need, and I'm sure we'll all support them if/when they get a team. But at the moment that's Seattle's team. Laying your eyes on another city's team is like laying your eyes on another man's wife. Gets people kind of cranky. Wait for the divorce, already.
I mean, we don't even have a separation agreement yet.

Tramel, despite allegedly being a professional sports writer, doesn't realize that Bennett et al are slowly and carefully playing to move to OKC and that his "Sonics Update" might PREVENT that move.
1) A fast move irritates league brass. Reference Al Davis, Raiders owner.
2) A careless move irritates fans and kills revenue. Reference Art Modell, Browns/Ravens owner and the 1995 Cleveland Browns season. (Bear in mind that NBA teams don't have as great a TV contract/hammock as the NFL and needs the sponsor and ticket sales worse than the NFL teams.)
3) Anticipation of a move might make the teams current fans/government to decide to keep it. Reference the New England Patroits aborted move to Connecticut in 2002.
Tramel: Bennett has a Master Strategy and he knows what he's doing, so BE QUIET!
