A poke in the eye of the beholder
The longest losing streak ever in NCAA Division I-A football is 34 games, by Northwestern University, ending in 1982.
In 1983, I started predicting the Playboy Playmate of the Year, and my losing streak is now up to twenty-four years. Any day now I should get a smirking email from Susan Lucci.

And we had to schedule the Division I-AA Northern Illinois University Huskies to break that streak. Ah, the glorious day of pouring rain, and two destroyed goalposts being carried along Evanston streets, first to be displayed at the university president's house while he cheered our vandalism and tried not to think about where the athletic department would find $6,000 to replace them, next to be thrown in Lake Michigan and then retrieved from Lake Michigan in pieces to be displayed in dorm and fraternity lounges across campus.
Why some memories stick I'll never know.
