7 May 2007Minnesota liceI'd be willing to bet the Star Tribune would never have bumped Lileks off his column had he been, oh, let's say, a transsexual sportswriter. I console myself with the thought of, say, Norm Coleman dispatched to Zimbabwe to cover Robert Mugabe in the Strib tradition, with two coats of whitewash. Bonus quote from Bill Peschel:
This is like taking a Kentucky Derby winner and having it pull a cart.
Incidentally, the old Star-Journal and Tribune ad Lileks is using for Bleat art this week boasts daily circulation of 400,000. Currently, the Strib claims 361,172. Somehow I don't think this is going to help. Posted at 1:02 PM to DyssynergyHopefully Lileks finds a better gig and blows the Strib off. What were they thinking? Apparently, they weren't. Posted by: Jeffro at 4:55 PM on 7 May 2007Indeed. If I were you two, I'd call the Strib up right now and cancel your subscriptions. Posted by: Matt at 9:17 PM on 7 May 2007Lileks will land on his feet. The Strib? On their ass. Posted by: RebeccaH at 9:21 PM on 7 May 2007We'll see how quickly they delete a website registration. My guess is they're loath to give up sending out those three or four spams a week. (Five since April 30, if anyone is keeping score. Besides me, I mean.) |
