How to kill a couple of hours
This was David's idea:
Because You Care: the 25 songs in my iTunes that have the longest running time. After you look at my 25, you should post your 25 longest songs.
I balked at that, largely because I use iTunes only for, well, iTunes purchases and for podcasts, and I've bought only 33 songs.
Still, if Tahoe Burns can do it, so can I:
Note that three of these are actually videos.
I'll see what I can do for my much-larger collection of MP3s, which I generally play in Winamp.

Two songs from Amy Winehouse - high praise indeed, coming from you. I've been enjoying her music, too -- one of the most strangely compelling voices I have ever heard.
And her real life appears to be a world-class train wreck, which adds to the fun.
I love the Unbegun Symphony
It doesn't matter much that you have 'only' 33 songs. One could argue that these are the 33 you picked out of a universe of possible purchases, and have meaning on that basis. I have over 35,000 songs (mostly CD rips), and my 'top 25', it could be argued, come from a smaller universe.
I'd be interested in lists of people's top 25 podcasts, too. Since the podcasts cost nothing more than the time to find them, perhaps it's more of a level playing field and even more reflective of their listener.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to have time for 25 podcasts? I get about a dozen, and there's four, five hours a week right there.
10 tracks on each of 1500 LPs: 15,000 tracks.
15 tracks on each of 1000 CDs: 15,000 tracks.
2 tracks on each of 1000 45s: 2,000 tracks.
Were I to rip everything in sight, I'd have somewhere between 30,000 and 40,000. (And I'd have to retire to have the time to do it, given my general anality about sound quality.)
Well, you've just blown any image I've drawn up from reading your posts all these years. This is a far cooler list than expected.
You know what I love about it? That "B*****s Ain't S**t" is given an Explicit label, but "F**k Me Pumps" isn't.
I tried to do this, but noticed that most of the really long songs were just last songs on an album that lead to a hidden song. If I can figure out what are the real long songs I'll post it.
Am I the only one who doesn't care for Amy Winehouse? Anything I've read or seen of her completely turns me off to her music.
The trick, I suppose, is not to look at her. (Although she looked vaguely hot, if scruffy, in the Rehab video.) Her Pete Doherty-with-boobs persona is seriously offputting.
