I wear them with a pair of casual sandals that has a narrow strip between the toes. Regular stockings won't work with those shoes, and there are some places where bare legs aren't appropriate, so the hose are a nice compromise. And why wear stockings at all? Well, I don't here in the Philippines, but in Oklahoma, I was on my feet all day, and had to wear support stockings to keep my varicose veins down.
