The Finch Formerly Known As Gold

On the verge of a Great Truth

After a few radio commercials, I determined that Asheville doesn't have a Lexus dealer — but does have a Land Rover dealer. And judging by this view from the Blue Ridge Parkway, I find this perfectly understandable.

Nice shot, especially considering how hard it is for most lenses to poke through all the haze up there.

The little town of Boone NC where my step-son went to school at Appalachian State has more Subarus than any place on earth. When we went up there to visit a couple of times, I felt right at home cruising around in my Outback Wagon. Come winter, they need them, or a Land Rover for the deep pocket set.

I think I got lucky with that one shot. (I only took the one, plus a shot of the sign denoting this overlook as the Village of Saunook; usually I do two or three and pick the best, a leftover film habit which I haven't quite been able to break despite going digital.)

Why even bother breaking the habit? It isn't like it hurts anything.

At worst, rather than X pictures on a charge, you get X/3. Cheap at twice the price.

Asheville sure is a pretty town. N.C. is a pretty state altogether. I also think Tennessee is one of the most beautiful states I have driven through. :)

Beautiful. You make me wish I were there.

I should have mentioned this, but didn't: at the Biltmore Estate, you can get a ride in a Land Rover over a presumably-perilous route for twenty bucks, or drive one yourself for rather a lot more.
