17 July 2007On the verge of a Great TruthAfter a few radio commercials, I determined that Asheville doesn't have a Lexus dealer but does have a Land Rover dealer. And judging by this view from the Blue Ridge Parkway, I find this perfectly understandable. Posted at 4:57 PM to World Tour '07Nice shot, especially considering how hard it is for most lenses to poke through all the haze up there. The little town of Boone NC where my step-son went to school at Appalachian State has more Subarus than any place on earth. When we went up there to visit a couple of times, I felt right at home cruising around in my Outback Wagon. Come winter, they need them, or a Land Rover for the deep pocket set. Posted by: Winston at 5:19 PM on 17 July 2007I think I got lucky with that one shot. (I only took the one, plus a shot of the sign denoting this overlook as the Village of Saunook; usually I do two or three and pick the best, a leftover film habit which I haven't quite been able to break despite going digital.) Posted by: CGHill at 8:49 PM on 17 July 2007Why even bother breaking the habit? It isn't like it hurts anything. At worst, rather than X pictures on a charge, you get X/3. Cheap at twice the price. Posted by: unimpressed at 9:13 PM on 17 July 2007Asheville sure is a pretty town. N.C. is a pretty state altogether. I also think Tennessee is one of the most beautiful states I have driven through. :) Posted by: Heather at 11:01 PM on 17 July 2007Beautiful. You make me wish I were there. Posted by: Deb at 11:04 AM on 18 July 2007I should have mentioned this, but didn't: at the Biltmore Estate, you can get a ride in a Land Rover over a presumably-perilous route for twenty bucks, or drive one yourself for rather a lot more.
