I might have sometimes spent $40 on Halloween in past years, mostly on candy bought weeks in advance, of which all that remained by the last day of October were empty wrappers.

This year, I may top $10, but with just two weeks to go I haven't bought any candy yet. If I don't get around to it before the shelves are bare, I may be spending more than $40 to clean up the vandalism.
