3 December 2007So sound the tone you know can't failI knew when I bought the 6133 that T-Mobile, avaricious to the last, had directed Nokia to rig the phone to play MP3s, but not to allow their use for ringtones unless they came from T-Mo itself. Being an old hand at screwing around with filetypes, and having noticed that WMAs actually will work, I am trying to locate a suitable conversion tool. Alternatively, I could do a CD full of potential tones, and then rip them with Windows Media Player. I mention this now, in early December, inasmuch as I'm currently wrestling with the idea that the B. C. Clark jingle might make one heck of a ringtone. Since the phone doesn't need a high bitrate for ringtones, I encoded mine at 128k. My resulting ringtones sound great (for cellphone ringtones) on my 6133. Good luck! Posted by: Scooby214 at 9:13 PM on 4 December 2007I've hit upon yet another expedient: Nero (infamous for their Burning ROM) packs a Wave Editor with the full package. Give it an MP3, and it turns it into a WAV, albeit not exactly the original (lossy compression is like that); there's an option to save as a WMA. Which leaves one irritant: I still need to come up with a USB cable for this phone, and apparently its USB connector is nonstandard. Posted by: CGHill at 9:19 PM on 4 December 2007You can find a USB cable online, but a Bluetooth dongle will work as well, and is usually much cheaper than the "pop port" cable that is needed for the 6133. You can find a Bluetooth dongle at any of the local big box stores like Best Buy or CompUSA. I believe I paid about $10 for mine last year, and I use it to put ringtones on my 6133, as well as to transfer photos from the phone to the computer. Posted by: CGHill at 7:05 PM on 5 December 2007You shouldn't have to. I don't use a Bluetooth headset, so I can't guarantee it. Even if you do have to disconnect (or whatever) your connection between your headset and your phone, it should reconnect again automatically, since it has paired with it before. I'm quite certain that you won't have to unpair your headset. I expect to get a Bluetooth headset for Christmas, so I've had to resist buying one...
