I think the whole thing is silly, especially since every right-leaning ranter who repeats "Barack HUSSEIN Obama!" and "Hillary RODHAM Clinton" also says "John SIDNEY McCain," over and over.

Since they're treating all the candidates equally over that, who cares?

John McCain is Sidney? Never heard of it (and I read only right blogs, as in "we are Right and we are right).
And if he is - so what? There is not so many men from Sidney who throwing bombs at Americans at the present...men called Hussein, on the other hand...

It does give one a pause. Although some chose not to use that pause for reflection.

This was brought up over at Protein Wisdom, including the question of equal treatment. And since I actually haven't been making a big deal about Obama's middle name -- considering the uproar over it from both sides to be irrational -- of course I have since referred to McCain over there exclusively as "Sidney."

I'm silly that way, sometimes.
