Perhaps the best guitarist ever from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Randy Bachman made wondrous noises with two of my favorite bands — the Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive — and today, when he’s not somewhere playing, he’s doing a CBC radio show about the history of rock and roll, and how he was fortunate enough to be a part of it. Much is explained here, including why sometimes Bachman sounds like Hank Marvin and sometimes like Wes Montgomery, and the secret of why you can’t get “Takin’ Care of Business” out of your head after all these years. (Hint: it wasn’t Bachman’s guitar work, good as it was.) Have lots of records at your side when you read it.
