IP unfreely

This showed up on Yahoo! Answers last night:

How can I ban liberals from my blog?

is this impossible. its through blogspot. would an htaccess file do the trick if blogspot allowed it

Well, it’s not like they’re cluttering up his comment section; as of the last time I looked, he had nine posts and no comments at all.

And no, you can’t do this in .htaccess. (What would the server look for to identify a liberal? Text styled as justified left?)

I am disinclined to give this guy a link, but if you read the question link and pull up his profile, you’ll get the URL.

Spammers can’t be stopped and this clown wants commenters prescreened based on their political views.

I’d rather see an idjut filter, but I might set it too “tight” and it wouldn’t let me on.

I believe I have done that. Twice, if I’m not mistaken. Needed benign intervention to get my site back both times.

There are some eldritch tools we mere mortals were never meant to use.

As a rule, McGehee is far snarkier than I in that particular environment, though I’d like to think I make it up in volume.

Oh wow. That guy is… well… I don’t even know how to finish that sentence but I’m feeling considerable temptation to mess with him somehow.

I really must start reading Yahoo Answers regularly.

    This I Do Not Need…

In two days I haven’t found anything especially interesting or amusing but I keep going back and looking and even answering a few questions. (I had completely forgotten that I had answered one question several months ago.)…
