    Sister Claire LeBoeuf needed a kidney. Without it, she would have to go on three-times-a-week dialysis, and her lifelong ministry as a children’s advocate would come to a sudden halt.

    I started laughing right there.

    I can remember when human-interest angles were restricted to these kinds of human-interest stories. Now we get them in reports about Fed policy.

    It’s a conscious effort to conflate human interest with government interest, despite the fact that the two seldom intersect.
