Not an insubstantial threat

The LPGA had an event in Rogers, Arkansas this weekend — specifically, the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G — and apparently this sign was spotted at the Pinnacle Country Club, where the competition is taking place:

Any persons (except players) caught collecting golf balls on this course will be prosecuted and have their balls removed.

I can assure you that would deter me from a life of crime, if a life of crime included hauling off golf balls from that course.

I guess, “persons” are assumed to be of one particular gender. justifiably so…what would a self-respecting non-career-driven woman do on a golf course?

The pro at our local muni here in Lawton would probably prefer that the players leave them lay, too. They’re a significant secondary income source, and it’s not like he’s actually taking care of the place…
