Low levels of litter

Is there anything good to report about the 2016 election? Well, there’s a definite paucity of yard signs:

There aren’t many yard signs for Hillary, because even dead dog Democrats who will vote for her solely because of the D after her name (as they would also do if she were Joseph Stalin or Adolf Hitler or the Ayatollah Khomeini) don’t like her enough to do anything beyond casting that vote. Certainly not go to the trouble of putting up yard signs.

OTOH, Trump supporters, with good reason, are probably fearful of being singled out for punishment from progtards and other violent ethnic racists if they publicize their preference for Trump — especially in front of their own homes, where their families live.

If that’s all we get, I’ll take it.

Meanwhile, someone ripped up a sign from Bark M.’s yard.

Locally, I have seen one Trump sign. All the others are for local elections, mostly county sheriff, who actually probably will have a bigger effect on our day-to-day lives than whichever person winds up in the White House.

That said: if I were Benevolent Dictatrix, I would pass a law requiring the candidate or members of his/her family to come and PERSONALLY remove all lawn signs not removed within 2 days of the election. (Then again, if I were Benevolent Dictatrix, I suppose there wouldn’t need to be elections, because I am assuming Dictatrix would be a lifetime post. Also I just like typing Dictatrix.)

I have seen ONE Clinton/Kaine sign and it was located right up there next to their home in such a manner where one would risk life and limb to try and molest it! I have seen several Trump/Pence signs. But you are right. Certainly no literal sea of them as in past years.

The few signs hereabouts are, unsurprisingly, mostly Trumpence; the holdout Bernie signs outnumber both the Clinton-Kaine and Johnson-Weld signs that I’ve seen.

Have neither seen vandalism nor heard reports of sign thefts. However, if any campaign signs turn up on my road frontage they will disappear — political signs in public right-of-way are illegal, and any signs posted without permission on private property are of course an act of war trespassing.

Several of my colleagues and I placed calls to a local candidate a couple years ago, reminding him of the “illegal on public/state property” rule after his minions placed signs on my building’s parking-area lawn.

They came and got them inside the time window we gave for “….or else we take them out ourselves and call the local newspaper”

I’d be livid if anyone tried to put a sign on my lawn, even if it was someone I supported, because I have a deep dislike of political signs.
