A one-night stand?

Or maybe it was one day? The Washington Post reports:

Nashville mayor admits to affair with the head of her security detail

If Mayor Barry did have an affair, presumably a brief one, on the 31st of January, I’m surprised the story’s coming out this soon.

Heh. “I knew a man with a wooden leg named Smith.” “Oh, what was his other leg named?”

“Somewhere in America, a woman gets pregnant every 15 minutes. We need to find this woman and stop her.”

(This was both times David Letterman was funny.)

I’m concerned that the #metoo movement might be going too fast too hard, without enough safety mechanisms in place. On the one hand, it’s good for victims to (finally) get some attention and validation. On the other hand….it seems like there’s no difference between rape (Weinstein) and goofy-stupid sophomoric antics (Franken). Honestly those don’t seem anywhere near the same.

Which is only somewhat similar to this case, I suppose. But I’m REALLY conflicted about a case in which two consenting adults engaged in an affair. But she is his boss (I presume) and therefore should have known better.

My understanding is that if you’re someone’s boss, even if there’s super-de-duper extra-consent on both sides, it’s STILL regarded as sexual harassment.

though it’s probably also frowned-upon to either fire an underling, or quit your job yourself, so that you can “date” that person.

I wonder what Edward VIII would have thought about this.
