From yesterday afternoon:

A few hours later:

Things happen, guys. Don’t worry about it.

Is the stadium really called “Guaranteed Rate Field”? Those stadium names are getting stupider all the time. Are the rates for bleacher tickets guaranteed or do they still keep going up?

The Chicago White Sox play at Guaranteed Rate Field; the privately-held mortgage company bought the naming rights in the fall of 2016 for the next 13 years. (Previous rights-holder: US Cellular.)

Dan – hence why our New York Islanders blog referred to the original home of our team as the Nassau “Gloriously Unsponsored” Coliseum. We even had t-shirts and hoodies made up (all sales benefit dementia research).

Its actual name was the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and the newly-refurbished model does now have a sponsor, if memory serves, but everyone still calls it the Nassau Coliseum. I can still hear the old SportsChannel fanfare and Jiggs McDonald’s stirring intro before broadcasts back in the day…
