Barren newsstand

In a matter of 21 months, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania went from having two daily newspapers to having none. At the very least, this deserves some sort of discussion.

Newnan, Georgia’s paper publishes five days a week, serving a county of probably now more than 100,000 people.

Riverton, Wyoming’s “Daily” Ranger also publishes five days a week, serving a county of around 40,000.

I have to admit, the versatility of this schedule is quite impressive.

The Edmond Sun, located in the next town up (population 95,000 or so), puts out only two print copies a week, bur emails an electronic edition five days (Tuesday through Saturday). Circulation is around 7,000.
