Wise geysers

From the AP wire:

Last weekend, Steamboat Geyser in Yellowstone National Park erupted for the 30th time this year. That’s the most eruptions since 1964, when the geyser erupted 29 times.

Um, not exactly:

It’s the most since whenever Steamboat last erupted AT LEAST 30 times. Which would therefore almost certainly have been sometime before 1964 — assuming your dates and facts are even accurate. Have you been hiring people away from CNN?

Hmmmm. Wonder if they got this person from CNN?

My one and only high-school girlfriend was a direct descendant of Richard III; she’s never been one to point this out to people, but she’s enough of a history buff for me to be relatively certain she knows of all the Richards, from I to, um, CL.

That chyronitor must have mistyped; surely the middle L was supposed to be an O.

A direct descendant of Richard III?

    The Tudors missed one?

This is what happens when people placed in positions of media/communicators who think they are well-educated don’t have enough supervision or fact-checking.
