Where have all the monarchs gone?

Mexico, apparently:

One hopeful statistic: their numbers are up over the last couple of years, though still short of the population at the turn of the century.

Thanks for posting about this; every bit of publicity helps.

For what it’s worth, I plant for the Monarchs. And take their babies inside to raise. That is somewhat controversial, because some scientists posit that the home-reared ones are unfit to face the real world. I don’t buy that, because I have occasionally watched what happens to caterpillars that are “left to nature”. Over 99% of them go down to a violent death at the mercy of wasps and yellow-jackets.

I will continue to take them inside.
