In my experience, a lot of the ‘appearance pressure’ and the worst comments come from (some) other women. The guys of my acquaintance either don’t say anything, or they say positive things*. Though I will say the snarkiness from some other women has lessened a lot in recent years; I don’t know if that’s a factor of my age or who I hang with now.
(*Though I tend not to attract the “PUA” types, and any guy who “negs” me in person will quickly see the back of my figure as I walk away)
I could write a laundry list of my own perceived appearance flaws, but I’ll spare you and your readers.
Men may notice, and prefer, makeup — but mostly we’re trying to keep women around, not drive them away. So even if there were a makeup counterpart to “yes, those pants do make your ass look fat,” the same “DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!!!” principle will apply.
