Coyote fugly

“Crime pays,” says the caption, “but botany doesn’t.”

Hint: not a burrito.

He tried to make it go to rehab, but (at first at least) it said no, no, no.

Maybe the critter is still with us. It’s a damn shame that Amy isn’t.

Sadly, I did a little looking up…the coyote was too far gone to even make it to the rehab. (So yeah, I kind of regretted making the joke)

    1. Yelling at a fleeing wild animal, “Stop! Come back!” is the first clue that Mr. Botanist doesn’t have the first clue.

    2. Second clue is his assumption that a farmer or stock grower trying to defend his livestock is automatically a redneck.

    3. It’s unfortunate the pup didn’t survive, but I wonder how much the videotaped part of its ordeal contributed to that.

Yeah, true: the Wildlife Advice I’ve always received is “leave the critter alone, many times it’s just hanging out waiting on Mom” (especially true of baby deer). And anyway I’d be afraid to pick up wildlife that looked unwell; that’s a way to get yourself rabies shots. (Though I guess he’d had his)

And yeah, I cringed a bit at the guy’s “redneck” comments but I assume from his accent he’s not from the part of the country he was botanizing in.
